Greenwood Oklahoma, a suburb of Tulsa (aka “Black Wall Street”), Was a modern, majestic, sophisticated and unapologetically Black community. Thriving after the abolishment of Slavery and home to many prominent black businesses was the location of one of the bloodiest and most horrendous race riots (and acts of terrorism) that the United States has ever experienced.
It resulted in the Greenwood District and the wealthiest black community in the United States, being burned to the ground.
